As being part of the member of Returned Services League Australia, it's an every year events that I went to few suburbs from April 23rd to 25th for Anzac Eve Service, Anzac Dawn Service, Anzac Day Parade, and Commemorative Service.. I met all the RSL sub branch Presidents and thank them, to the Australian Armies for being part of our history, fighting for North Borneo Sabah and Sarawak during the World War 2 against the Japan. Without their backing up, we the natives of Borneo might be vanished from our Land Below the Wind.

There's one old man at his age around early 60's (Personal details privately kept) who told me that his generation since his grandfather, and his father and himself are all served their life as an Australian armies. He's never been to Borneo before, but his father did.. He told me that his father one of the armies fighting with the guerillas, and who walked along the Sandakan's trails to Ranau, what they called it "Sandakan Death March" during the Japan tried to colonised Borneo in 1940's. He seemed like have a greater information about my hometown's history than myself, since we've never being taught our true history in public educational school.

Not only that, this man are the one who start the conversation about North Borneo first, before i even begin with the topic. When he said "we still have few collection of North Borneo's stamps".. Then i asked him, whether or not he knows about the formation of Malaysia, he then answered me, yes he knows, but the information that he have is more before Sabah Sarawak still under the rule of British... They knows better, how the four countries form Malaysia in 1963, and how the Singapore ceased in 1965. I then told him that we're in a process of claiming our right from the Malaysia Agreement 1963.. Then he said, "it should be done long before, at the same time when Singapore ceased from being part of Malaysia".. Then i reply him, "it may be because we are not fit to run our own country yet during that time with lack of education, but it doesn't meant that we are not fit now since we have many great educated leaders, it's just that they don't stand together as a team".. I continue explained, "we're in the process of claiming our Rights through United Nation to reveal and justify the Malaysia Agreement 1963, and we need 300,000 signatures for the petition, that allows us to open all and everything what's beneath including dragging the corrupted who fail to fulfill the 20 Points of Agreement terms.. I am part of the hundreds volunteers who collecting the signed petition and try to educate our people with the history, knowledge and our Rights on our land.. Our representative she's in UK, the one who confronting with the UN and facing all the challenging of being verbally assault by the group who are not agreed for Sabah Sarawak to claim our Rights"..

He then said, "It is a nobel of you all to educate and to claims your rights for the better future of your generation. It is not easy, but it's not impossible. As long as you all standing together, you will never be defeated. But if you fail for the first time of claiming your right, never feel down and giving up. It's just the first try. There's a country who gain their freedom and independence after 100 years of fighting. Imagine how many generations they need to keep them to be prepared along the process. Just never let your history forgotten and keep on encourage your people for a higher education. Once it's forgotten, your hope will be lesser to none", he said..

I have a great conversation with these groups of great people. And as our conversation concluded, I am not only get their solidarity supports to signed the petition, but the great of all, i get few volunteers, to whom i passed my files that I've prepared, to help with collecting the sign petition.

May the justice will be gain for the rights and the truth.

Dia cakap, "Johor Such a big Country", terus saya balas, Sabah far more bigger country than Johor. Dia terus bilang "You are very Proud about Sabah ya", Of Course Saya bilang.

Last dia tanya, Do you think Sabah better without Malaysia?

Then saya jawab, we will become one of the richest country once we are "out" from Malaysia.

Paling last dia jawab, Your Time Will Come, like Us...Dont Worry!! ^^ Amen.

KOTA KINABALU, 2 october 2015: The High Court will on Nov 11 deliver its decision on the application by four Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SKMM) activists to have their case of having materials calling for Sabah and Sarawak to secede from Malaysia transferred from the Sessions Court to the High Court.

In their application, Azrie Situ, 24, Jemmy Liku, Markus Situ, 32, Erick Jack William, 29, and Joseph Koilis, 29, raised that legal arguments which are going to be raised in their defence are complex in nature and that such complex legal arguments are matters best heard and determined by the High Court.

Their counsel Tengku Ahmad Fuad, who appeared together with counsel Arthur Chin, also told Judge Datuk Nurchaya Arshad that they were challenging the definition of 'seditious tendency'.

The four had, on March 16 this year, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to having pamphlets with seditious content at 9.50am on Feb 1, this year at the weekly Tamu in Tuaran.

Erick is accused of having 91 pieces of the seditious pamphlets, Joseph 13, Azrie five and Jemmy one.

The offence, under Section 4(2) of the Sedition Act, carries a fine of up to RM2,000 or a jail term of up to 18 months, or both, on conviction with the offending publications to be seized and destroyed.

The trial of the activists has been put off in the Sessions Court pending the outcome of their application in the High Court.

In Thursday's proceeding Tengku Ahmad argued that speaking up about Sabah's rights within Malaysia can never be seditious.

"(And) we are challenging the definition of 'seditious tendency'.

"What we are saying is that if you questioned Sabahan's rights openly...that category of speech is incapable of criminalisation under the Sedition Act," said Tengku Ahmad.

The court also ordered the prosecution to give the defence the list of words claimed to be seditious in the document by Oct 7 and ordered both applicants and the prosecution to tender their respective submission on Oct 21.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Azreezi Nordin appeared for the prosecution.

She remarks however that it is strange the Malaysian government is not willing to put down the charges against her in writing.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabahan freedom fighter Doris Jones @ Doris Yapp Kim Yuon who heads the UK-based Sabah Sarawak Union-United Kingdom (SSU-UK), an NGO behind the Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia Facebook page, wants to bring to public attention that if the Malaysian Government wants to level accusations against her, it should do so officially and in writing. “It’s strange that we have a government which doesn’t hesitate to accuse one of all sorts of things in public but was not willing to put them down in writing.”

If there are charges, she added, it must be conveyed to the one accused in writing. “If there are charges, what’s the reason not to notify in writing? So, how can I respond? I would like to return home and face the charges.”

“When I turned up at the Malaysian High Commission in London on September 30 with Sarawakian and SSU-UK founder member Zurainee Tehek as a witness to collect the extension of my passport, an official Azhar Bin Abd Hamid gave all sorts of reasons why they couldn’t let me have my passport,” said Jones in a statement in Bahasa which is making the rounds in WhatsApp and social media. “The official was also not willing to let me have in black and white the complaints that the Malaysian government have against me.”

“I wrote down the complaints myself on an A4 white sheet of paper with a pen, both obtained from Azhar, and asked him to sign it. He refused to do so.”

Jones said that when she asked Azhar whether the Malaysian government refused to extend her passport, he denied it but at the same time added: “It’s not that the government doesn’t want to extend your passport. The government rejected extending it.”

Jones said that when she heard Azhar’s reply, she recalled Ahmad Maslan, Salleh Said Keruak and other Ministers back home who invariably never failed to give similarly “stupid answers” when asked something quite straight forward. “Why does the government keep officers who give such stupid answers when queried by the public? Azhar also initially refused to return my old passport on the grounds that it belongs to the Malaysian government.”

Briefly, Jones said that Azhar told her the Malaysian government had directed him to delay extending her passport, that there was an arrest warrant issued by the police and pending against her, and that she was facing charges of opposing the Malaysian government through the struggle to bring Sabah and Sarawak out of the Federation. “I have been interviewed by UK government officials on the matter of the High Commission not being able to extend my passport.”

“The National Liberal Party (NLP) President Graham Williamson has also issued a statement on the matter. Williamson heads the Nations Without States of which SSU-UK is a member.”

In the rest of her statement, Jones charged that the people of Sabah and Sarawak had been taken for a ride since 1963 by the Malayan government masquerading as the Malaysian government and that Malaysia the Federation was nothing more than Malaya the peninsula. “We in Sabah and Sarawak have nothing in common with Malaya. We are so different from them.”

She demanded that Malayan political parties in Sabah and Sarawak leave the two Borneo nations as they had the insidious motive of changing the character of the two Borneo nations.

She pledged that she would work through the United Nations and the international community to free Sabah and Sarawak from the clutches of Malaya.

Adenan bukannya menjadi populis. Beliau hanya berkata bahawa Sarawak satu ketika dahulu memiliki segalanya, namun telah dirompak selepas diperdaya bahawa Malaysia akan menjadikannya lebih makmur.

“Sebelum 16 September 1963 kita memiliki status autonomi penuh,” beliau dilaporkan berkata.

KOTA KINABALU: The Sessions Court here adjourned to October 15 this year to mention the case of four volunteers of the Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM) movement, who were charged with allegedly propagating the secession of Sabah from Malaysia.

Judge Dean Wayne Daly set the date for Azrie Situ, 24, Jemmy Liku Markus Situ, 32, Erick Jack William, 28, and Joseph Kolis, 29, following an application made by counsel Tengku Ahmad Fuad for all the accused persons, when the case came up for hearing yesterday.

Fuad applied for postponement pending the disposal of the criminal application before the High Court to have his clients’ case heard there.

Deputy public prosecutor Azeezi Nordin did not object to the postponement as the High Court had already set October 1 to hear the application made by the defence.

The accused persons were caught at the weekly tamu in Tuaran on February 1 at around 9.50am for supposedly having seditious pamphlets urging Sabah and Sarawak to leave Malaysia.

Erick allegedly had 91 pieces of the publication, Joseph 13 pieces, Azrie five pieces and Jemmy one piece.

The offence under Section 4(2) of the Sedition Act provides for a fine of up to RM2,000 or a maximum jail term of 18 months, or both, upon conviction, and the offensive material is to be seized and destroyed.

To West Malaysia people, there's something you all need to know before say something about Sarawak Independence day, why we reject August 31, you need to know one thing...

Sarawak was granted self-government on 22 July 1963...

William Liam (right photo)

Forgotten in the past, appeared to be a pointed reminder to the national government in Putrajaya that elements in both Sabah and Sarawak are demanding a more assertive approach to the governance of their own affairs.

The British took over the role of protecting Sarawak in 1888, formally becoming a colony in July 1946. On 22nd July 1963 Britain granted Sarawak full independence, where it became a sovereign state in its own right.

Many, if not most Malaysians are unaware that Sarawak was indeed, if only for a short time, a fully independent state before it entered into the Malaysia Agreement to form the Federation of Malaysia along with Sabah, Malaya, and Singapore, which formally came into effect on 16th September 1963, the actual birth date of Malaysia. Sarawak’s status, like Sabah’s within the Federation was defined by the 18 Points Agreement, which gave Sarawak (20 points in Sabah) sole responsibility in governing many aspects of its territory.

There is a sentiment in many quarters within Sarawakian society that the state’s rich and diverse history has been lost in favor of the ‘national Merdeka’ narratives dominated by the stories of the independence movement within the Malay Peninsula. As a consequence, Liberation Day, as independence from Britain is called in Sarawak, has become a forgotten annal in Malaysia’s history.

Pemimpin malaya terutamanya najib mengeluarkan kata-kata pujangganya.

“You’ll Never Walk Alone” Come together we fight for our right. Kalau bukan kita, siapa lagi? Kalau bukan sekarang bila lagi? BAH ! HARAPAN !

Come Sabahan!!

Frustration over Putrajaya's refusal to review and honour the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and its “condescending colonialist’s attitude” towards Sabah is slowly coming to a boil in this touristic “Land Below the Wind”.

For a long time, condemning Putrajaya over the alleged failure to honour the agreement used to be the domain of the opposition but now it appears to be no longer the case.

The Malaysia Agreement brought Sabah, then known as North Borneo, and the independent states of Sarawak and Singapore with the Federated Malay state of Malaya to form a new union, the Federation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963.

A list of 20 points were to safeguard the interests, rights and autonomy of the people of North Borneo upon the formation. Sarawak, too, has a similar proposal, known as 18-point agreement, with certain differences in content.

A former Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblyman Datuk James Ligunjang said the frustration and anger cut across the board, even politics, pointing out the case of the four young men charged in a Kota Kinabalu court last Monday with sedition.

The four were alleged to have in their possession materials calling for Sabah and Sarawak's secession from Malaysia.

He said that while Putrajaya could turn a deaf ear to charges by opposition politicians like Datuk Dr Jeffery Kitingan, the chairman of Star, the warnings by BN politicians like Kalabakan MP Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh on Putrajaya's treatment of Sabah must be particularly worrying for the ruling coalition.

“It showed that Sabahans all share the view that the Malaysia Agreement had not been honoured and Sabah had been unfairly treated by Putrajaya,” Ligunjang said.

Ghapur on March 16 had warned Putrajaya in Parliament to take care of Sabahans and that if they don't, “we (BN) will lose”.

Before Ghapur's outburst, none of the Sabah BN leaders dared voiced out their resentment publicly on the issue.

Former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee on Thursday claimed Putrajaya had for years avoided taking a look at the Malaysia Agreement as they sought to dominate Sabah.

Giving some insight into Putrajaya's reaction and attitude whenever Sabah's rights and demands were raised with former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Yong said Abdullah and Umno ministers would often try to sidestep the issue in what he called as “the inconvenient truth”.

“These are the sticky points we have often bugged them and which they would rather sweep under the carpet,” said Yong, who has since left BN to form his own opposition party, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

The “sticky points” which had made Sabahans most unhappy include the influx of illegal immigrants, which had change the state's racial demography; “legalising” these illegals, particularly Muslim Filipinos, Indians, Pakistanis and Indonesian, by issuing them identification cards under the so-called Project IC; the security threat and work competition these “new Malaysians” posed and the demand for an increase in the oil and gas royalty.

Former Petagas assemblyman Ligunjang added Sabahans' anger at the continued plunder of the state's natural resources, particularly oil and gas, and the status of their state being downgraded from an independent nation and an equal partner in the federation to a mere state like Selangor or Johor, to the list.

“The frustration is a culmination of so many things,” he said, adding that one of the examples was the presence of Umno in Sabah.

“Umno's presence in Sabah violates the Malaysia Agreement as Malaya should not be interfering in the politics of Sabah and even Sarawak.

“They cannot be here as they do not comply with the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement.

“Also, what happened to the agreement to return 40% of the income generated by Sabah back to the state?

“Sabah and Sarawak are endowed with rich natural resources and today, after 52 years of plundering, we have both been reduced to beggars, begging to Putrajaya for handouts,” Ligunjang said.

Ligunjang, like Yong, too, has quit BN, disillusioned by what he said “Putrajaya's continued attempt to dominate Sabah”.

Wearing a white T-shirt with the words “Hormati Perjanjian Malaysia” (honour the Malaysia Agreement) emblazoned across his chest, Ligunjang describes himself now as “a full-time social activist” giving awareness talks on the Malaysia Agreement and soliciting support to press Putrajaya to honour it.

He said if Putrajaya continued to ignore the agreement and disregard calls by Sabahans, then “what options do we Sabahans have” as he spoke of seeking the British government and the United Nations' help in getting Putrajaya to sit down with the signatories of the agreement “to see if the spirit of the agreement had been achieved”.

JULAU: The Sarawak For Sarawakians (S4S) team is touring the state to share the movement’s ideology and sell S4S merchandise.

S4S volunteers Beng Kor and Ting Ching Ing have been covering towns and settlements along the Rajang River. On their list are Sibu, Kanowit, Majan, Bintagor, Sarikei, Daro, Mukah, Selangau and Kapit.

“We are doing this for two purposes. One is to create awareness of Sarawak’s history and the referendum rights of Sarawakians,” Kor told the BAT Team here yesterday.

“The other purpose is to sell S4S souvenirs to help pay for travelling expenses incurred. And until now, business has been okay and we have been making enough to continue our journey.” According to him ‘Sarawak For Sarawakians’ is not a new slogan.

“Most Sarawakians resented joining Malaya to form the Federation of Malaysia. The Cobbold Commission, which surveyed only 2,000 people, did not represent what most people wanted,” he claimed.  He said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is also moving towards greater autonomy by bringing up issues such as the oil royalty.

“He (Adenan) is doing this because he is responding to the voices of the Sarawak people. So are we,” said Kor.

SPECIAL REPORT

A hectic evening with SSKM 18/20 Points Spot Awareness Programme started at Mukah Old Township located at The New Lane Restaurant and later at The Setia Raja Food Court area followed by The Setia Raja Commercial Area. It was a fun spot discussion to gauge the peoples' knowledge about the GENUINE HISTORY of Sarawak and Sabah and The Formation of Malaysia and the Sarawak/Sabah CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS within Federation of Malaysia altogether. This is simply a gathering of people ranging from university students, professionals, social activist and others with the essence of 18/20 Points. An independent online poll has shown that Sarawakians are not supportive of Pakatan Rakyat’s objections to an independent Sarawak.

A recent independent online survey showed that 95% of those polled voted for Sarawak to move out of the Federation of Malaysia.

The 10-day poll commencing Feb 14 to Feb 24 was organised by Facebook page Hornbill Talks and attracted the participation of 2,107 voters.

The poll sought to get public opinions on whether they supported calls for Sarawak to secede through referendum or remain in the federation of Malaysia.

An overwhelming number voted for an independent Sarawak.

Participants were asked one simple question and asked to tick their answers. The question and answer options were:  “If a referendum were to be carried out in Sarawak within the next six months, you will choose – i) Remaining in Malaysia, ii) Independence or iii) Undecided”.

The poll was done in  English, Malay, Iban and Mandarin, the four common languages spoken in Sarawak.

In the Hornbill Talks Facebook page, it was stated that only three percent or 54 of the 2,107 participants voted for “Remaining in Malaysia”, while 95% percent voted for “Independence”, and two percent or 47 were “undecided”

Hornbill Talks also stated that among the participants “approximately 90 percent of them live in Malaysia. The rest of them live in other countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brunei, and so on.

“In Malaysia, approximately 1,400 votes came from Malaya, 960 votes came from Sarawak and 30 votes from Sabah. In Malaya, approximately 980 votes came from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

“The rest, which accounts for 30 percent of the votes, roughly 420 participants live in other major cities such as Penang, Johor Bharu and Ipoh,” noted Hornbill Talks in its FB post dated Mar 11.

Sarawak wants a referendum

It also claimed that based on the poll results and the statistics gathered, the majority of the participants supported the idea of independence if given a choice for a referendum.

“More participants came from Malaya than Sarawak, possibly because of the poor infrastructure in Sarawak, and therefore many (in Sarawak) had no access to the Internet.

“Another reason could be that most of the intellectuals and those being tech-savvy from Sarawak have moved to Malaya to work or further their studies.

“Most of the Sarawakians living in Malaya who voted stay around Kuala Lumpur area and the Klang Valley.

“The rest are living in major cities such as Johor Baru, Penang, Ipoh and Kuantan. This also gives a strong support to the reason above,” Hornbills Talks noted.

However, there was no clear percentage of the total number of Sarawakians or non-Sarawakians who took part in the polls.

The polls were totally open to the public on Facebook although the organizers insisted that “it was well promoted in numerous Sarawak Facebook groups”.

“In Sarawak, one very interesting phenomenon can be observed. Majority of the participants, surprisingly, came from the central district of Sarawak, which includes Sibu, Mukah and Bintulu.  Approximately 600 of the votes came from these areas in the central region (of Sarawak).

“Other than that, the southern district of Sarawak came second, with roughly 300 of the participants living in this area, majority of them in Kuching.

“The rest, which accounts for less than 100 votes, came from the northern region, which includes Miri and Limbang,” said the post.

No support for Pakatan’s view

Main force behind the poll,  FB user Beng Kor  told FMTBorneoplus about the unanticipated large number of pro-independence voters from central Sarawak.

“This is in contrast to what we expected. As we know, the central region is a strong DAP and Pakatan Rakyat stronghold in Sarawak.

“Now we know Pakatan Rakyat and their supporters are generally against the idea of Sarawak independence,” Beng Kor opined, in reference of PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian’s recent warning that talks about Sarawak’s secession from Malaysia as ‘treason’.

Several key Pakatan Rakyat members and supporters recently had openly voiced their dissatisfaction about the rising sense of nationalism within Sarawak.

A pro-Pakatan Facebook group, “Sarawak Autonomy Movement” was also launched to counter the increasingly popular and well-received nationalist group of Sarawak Sovereignth Movement (SSM).
